The Houston Outdoor Group
HOG NEWS
The Houston Outdoor group met for the
annual pool party and election of officers at the home of Dave and
Milton last Saturday, August 26, 2009. About eighteen members enjoyed a
great potluck meal and then gathered around the pool for swimming,
visiting, coffee and dessert.
Peter F., outgoing Director of Activities led the business meeting. Officers elected for the coming year 2009-2010 are as follows:

Plans are being made for several activities for the fall including the possibility of camping at McKinney Falls State Park or Huntsville State Park and a trip to Lost Maples and Garner State Parks. Details of these and other activities will be forthcoming in the September Newsletter.
Board meetings are held on the Wednesday before the last Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. and all HOG members are welcome to attend. The next board meeting will be held at the home of John A. and Jon G. on March 24 at 7 P.M.

A Letter From
Our New President
Thank you HOGS for electing me President our fine organization. This group has meant a great deal to me ever since I heard about the HOGS in the late 1980's.
I have a vision for the coming year for the Houston Outdoor Group. I have a vision of a great group of friends enjoying activities throughout the year in the great outdoors. (indoors too!) I have a vision of friends reaching out to invite more friends to join us.
We've had many great trips and activities in the past. I realize that from time to time we get tired of the same thing, and as with anything we sometimes get burned out. I see us organizing many more exciting activities in the coming year which will give us all a "shot in the arm". After all, keeping active is one of the healthiest things we can do, young and old alike!!!
What a great pool party last Saturday! Thank you Dave and Milton for hosting our annual Pot Luck/Pool Party/Election of officers. We had a great group of HOGS there and there was much excitement (more than I've seen in a long time) ....excitement about planning activities, trips, and yes, even breakfasts and Pot Luck dinners!
Jon and I will be hosting the first board meeting for the new year at our home on Wednesday, September 23 at 7 p.m. As always, all hog members are welcome and we'd like to give each of you a special invitation to join us. So until our next get together....
